Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
The role offers the opportunity to fully challenge the skillset of a talented Senior Engineer. The successful candidate will be working on developing very high precision electro-mechanical / optical assemblies. You will contribute to delivering first of its kind technology and you will have ample opportunity to guide the design evolution of the product.
Ideally you have a mix of skills with a particular emphasis on engineering first principles in the fields of solid mechanics, thermodynamics, vibrations and materials. In addition, an aptitude for calculation / analysis would be great.
An overview of the general duties and responsibilities include:
Generation of design specifications
Design of mechanical equipment to specific requirements
Generation of calculations / analysis / test programmes / supporting documentation for designs
Generation of standard operating procedures.
Ensuring that all engineering documentation created as part of tasks meet the requirements of internal procedures & strict timelines.
Project management
Module/System construction and testing
Generation of documentation for CE Marking
On occasion, site systems integration and commissioning at collaborator sites worldwide
At present you have 4 to 6 years post qualification experience in a relevant design environment with the ambition to work in a bleeding edge engineering design company. That experience should include as many of the following skillsets as possible:
The ability to design mechanical assemblies from first principles (specific emphasis is placed upon a strong understanding of Solid Mechanics, Thermal Dynamics, Materials and Vibration). Strong appreciation for designing for manufacture. Excellent 3D CAD ability e.g. SolidWorks, Creo(Pro/E), NX. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of ultra-precision machining. Significant understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing. Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis. Data analysis skills
